Dr. Lori Shemek is BACK before the end of the year to discuss what you can do to set up a morning routine that sets you up for success!
From the moment you open your eyes in the morning, you begin to make choices.
Those choices, whether made through habit or based on purpose, can either set you up for success or let the day dictate those choices for you.
When you take control of how your day unfolds, this is not just healthy, but very empowering as well.
Research shows the best way to set the tone for the day is to tweak your morning routine to work in your favor.
What Should Be a Healthy Morning Routine?
Below, I reveal the 5 most pivotal actions to take every morning to start your day on a healthy note:
1) Drink Water
Immediately upon rising, drink 16 ounces of water.
When you’ve gone 8 hours without ingesting water due to sleeping, you are mildly dehydrated.
Dehydration can be reversed immediately by drinking water that ultimately prevents fatigue, headaches, lethargy, joint pain and much more.
Drinking healthy water is key – and you really should reconsider drinking tap water that has not been filtered.
Not all water is created equal, which is why I personally drink alkaline hydrogen water made with my Tyent Water Ionizer every single day!
Tyent Water is jam-packed with therapeutic levels of molecular hydrogen, antioxidants, and essential minerals that your body needs, such as zinc, magnesium, potassium, and calcium.
In fact – Tyent just released their new Alkaline H2 Hybrid Water Ionizer this week and I cannot stress enough how awesome their new machine is.
The Hybrid is the healthiest machine EVER, a masterfully engineered combo of an alkaline water ionizer and a hydrogen water generator.
There’s literally nothing like this machine on the market today…here’s a quick preview:
2) Do Not Eat Breakfast
When you sleep each night, your body goes into a state of natural ketosis – which helps to optimize health.
Continue this ketosis via intermittent fasting, by skipping breakfast and instead, eat your first meal at lunch.
You will not only help optimize your cellular health – but you will also help promote weight loss.
Intermittent fasting is one of the healthiest actions you can take!
A few benefits of intermittent fasting are:
- Boosts weight loss
- Increases energy
- Promotes cellular repair and autophagy (when your body consumes defective tissue in order to produce new parts)
- Reduces insulin resistance and protects against type 2 diabetes
- Lowers bad cholesterol
- Promotes longevity

3) Do 10 Reps of an Exercise of Your Choice
When you roll out of bed – do at least 10 reps of your choice of squats, push-ups or lunges.
This quick exercise will help keep you physically fit and very energized as you start to go about your day, alongside promoting muscle mass and strength.
Research shows that maintaining and promoting muscle growth is key to insulin sensitivity, lowered blood sugar, lower blood pressure and increased longevity
4) Meditate
Our minds are constantly abuzz with monkey chatter.
If you have ever meditated, you know that you start to become aware of the present and seemingly natural way thoughts begin to emerge.
Meditation helps you to declutter your mind by simply letting go of thoughts that naturally come and refocusing back.
This has a cumulative, profound effect upon success and health – and is a very refreshing way to start the day.
A few benefits of meditation are:
- Reduces Stress
- Improves Focus
- Improves Relationships
- Improves Memory
- Helps Overcome Addictions
- Increases Telomere Length
- Boosts Immunity
5) Shower in the Cold
If you dare, a warm shower with a cold shower rinse in the morning is better than coffee!
Besides powerful energy, cold showers boost circulation.
The warm then cold shower water constricts and dilates your blood vessels, which strengthens your immune system.
Cold showers also boost the metabolism-boosting the good fat we all carry…brown fat, that can help achieve weight loss success.
You see…cold shock proteins are produced when you get cold, thereby promoting longevity, testosterone, reducing depression and more.
Longevity and health-related goals should always include a cold shower!
