Is Kangen Water Different Than Alkaline Water?

Kangen Water is the water produced by Kangen Water Ionizers, which are made by a company called Enagic. Is Kangen Water any good? Is it the same thing as alkaline water? How does it compare with Tyent Alkaline Water? Let’s find out!

Not all Alkaline Water is Equal

First, it’s important to note that the phrase ‘alkaline water’ is a broad one, and the various types are not created equally.

Take bottled alkaline water, for example. Any value it might have had when it was bottled will begin to diminish quite rapidly. Bottled alkaline water might sit in a warehouse, and then on a store shelf for weeks before being sold. The benefits of alkaline water cannot remain suspended in time, and definitely not in a plastic bottle.

Not only will any potential benefits decline as time goes on, but the packaging itself may pose a health risk. If water is stored in plastic bottles, then there is the possibility that chemicals from the plastic itself might leach into the water.

That's why freshly ionized alkaline water, straight from the machine into the glass, means that you enjoy a far better taste, no plastic contamination and better support for your health and wellbeing.

How Good is Kangen Water?

So that leads us neatly on to water ionizers and the question of Kangen Water.

Kangen is one of the more recognizable names in the water ionizer market, but the industry has changed over the years, and water ionizer technology is incredibly advanced. Has Enagic kept pace? Kangen machines produce alkaline water, but there is a sliding scale of quality of alkaline water. Where is Kangen Water on that scale? Clue: not at the top.

We need to illustrate this with facts. Let’s look at the K8, one of Enagic’s most powerful flagship models. This machine features 8 solid plates. Here, we instantly have our first red flag. Well, two of them. Solid plates might have wowed the crowds back in the early days of water ionizers, but now we know that solid plates have less surface area available for ionization, and therefore lack the sheer power needed to produce therapeutic levels of antioxidant-rich alkaline water.

By contrast, Tyent’s Solid/Mesh Hybrid plates are designed to maximize surface area, for maximum ionization. Each plate is cast in titanium and dipped multiple times in platinum, for incredible strength to go with all that power.

The second red flag? Kangen plates aren’t powerful enough, but there are also too few of them. The flagship K8 contains just 8 plates and cannot pack enough of a punch to produce the very best alkaline water. For example, the Tyent ACE-13 harnesses the power of 13 plates for a far superior performance.

Kangen ‘Strong’ Water: Why it’s Different from Alkaline Water

There is another peculiarity with Kangen Water Ionizers: Kangen ‘Strong’ Water.

Kangen Strong Water is different from alkaline water. It is the ‘strong’ acidic water that Enagic machines produce. You cannot drink this water, but it can be used for other purposes.

Now, the plate power and number of plates are relevant to this, because guess what? Kangen Water Ionizers aren’t actually powerful enough to produce their own acidic water. The 8 solid plates cannot manage the process on their own and so – as anyone owning a Kangen machine will know – sodium hypochlorite has to be added to the machine to bolster the ionization process and produce ‘strong’ Kangen Water. Enagic calls it an ‘electrolysis enhancer.’

Hang on. Doesn’t sodium hypochlorite ring a bell? Yep. Its other name is bleach. Rather than invest in technology and find ways to upgrade their machines, Enagic tells customers to add bleach to their water ionizer to boost its performance and produce that Kangen Strong Water.

Now, the quality of your drinking water informs every part of your health and wellbeing – you should make sure that it is the best drinking water possible. If there is even a small chance of bleach residue swilling around your ionizer unit, then who wants to drink that alkaline water?

Tyent Alkaline Water & Kangen Water: Why Power Matters

Back to alkaline water. There are other differences between Tyent Alkaline Water and Kangen Water – important ones. Kangen ionizer machines have a single filter, and Enagic is reluctant to advertise what that filter actually removes, which instills no confidence whatsoever. When it comes to health and wellbeing, transparency is vital. Also, the power type matters. Kangen machines utilize a linear power supply and heavy transformer unit. This is an inefficient process and is also prone to overheating. Tyent Water Ionizers are powered by SMPS Plus®, which means our water ionizers boast 55 adjustable power settings, compared with the complete lack of voltage adjustability that comes with a linear power supply.

Again, the contrast with Tyent is marked. We are proud of our filtration technology, and our range of filters. An independent laboratory assesses and tests each of our filter types and the full report can be found on our website.

The Best Alkaline Water for Your Money

Let’s recap. With Tyent, your source water is filtered thoroughly by our industry-beating filters, which share the same micron filtration technology as a hospital dialysis machine, so that your water is rendered completely clean and safe. The water then flows over powerful Tyent Solid/Mesh Hybrid ionizer plates where it is ionized and split into alkaline and acidic water. Every glass of Tyent Alkaline Water is ultra-hydrating, rich with naturally occurring molecular hydrogen and potent antioxidants, and delicious to drink. Finally, Tyent Water Ionizers are chemical free.

Kangen Water is filtered, but Enagic declines to say which contaminants are removed by this process, and which ones remain in the water after filtration. The ionization plates in a Kangen Machine cannot compete with Tyent plates, and the lack of power produces water that has inferior levels of therapeutic alkalinity and precious molecular hydrogen. And then there’s that side helping of possible bleach residue in your water ionizer system.

So there we have it. Kangen Water might be alkaline, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Tyent Alkaline Water.
