Sparkling Water – Is It Good?

It’s on sale everywhere, but does that mean that sparkling water is good? Is drinking the fizzy stuff fine or should you be giving those bubbles a wide berth?

Sparkling Water - Is it good

We’re going to start off with an important point: sparkling water is a better choice than soda, because pretty much any beverage is better than soda. So compared with soda, you could argue that sparkling water is good!

However, taken on its own merits, sparkling water isn’t necessarily the clean option that you might be hoping for. There are a few reasons why sparkling water isn’t such a good choice after all.

Is Sparkling Water Good if You Have IBS or Stomach Issues?

Sparkling water doesn’t cause IBS, but carbonated water – literally water containing pressurized carbon dioxide bubbles – can cause discomfort for people prone to bloating or feeling gassy and could lead to an IBS flare-up.

How Good is Sparkling Water if You Care About Your Teeth?

Some dentists caution against drinking sparkling water on a regular basis, as they believe it can have a corrosive effect on tooth enamel. The reason? Sparkling water is more acidic than other types of water, and that’s bad news for teeth.

“It’s pH3 on the acidity scale. The bubbles erode your tooth enamel – and over time this causes painful yellow cracked teeth.”

Dr. Adam Thorne, founder, Harley Street Dental Studio

Will Drinking Sparkling Water Lead to Weight Gain?

This study – which looked at the effect of carbon dioxide gas, rather than the sugar or sweetener content of beverages – investigated the interaction between carbon dioxide and ghrelin: a hormone produced by enteroendocrine cells, particularly in the stomach. Higher ghrelin levels can trigger feelings of hunger, leading to eating more, and subsequent weight gain.

How Can I Save Money? Sparkling Water is So Expensive!

There’s no getting away from it: sparkling water isn’t cheap, compared with regular water. Did you know that you can use your Tyent Water Ionizer to SAVE money, instead of buying bottles of sparkling water?

Let’s look at the figures: bottled water costs around $1.22 per gallon.  If a family of four all drink 64 oz each per day, that’s a total of $888 per year on drinking water. You can often double that figure for luxury brands!

Once fitted, your Tyent Water Ionizer will deliver glass after glass of clean, delicious alkaline water for a tiny cost of around 6¢ per glass.

All our water ionizer machines come with a ‘Forever’ Guarantee, giving you a LIFETIME of savings!

Is Sparkling Water in Plastic Bottles Safe?

Well, it’s definitely not safe for the planet! Aside from the environmental implications, water in plastic bottles can pose a risk for your health as well.

Even if you can bring yourself to ignore the possible risk of PFAS ‘Forever Chemicals’ leaching from the bottle into your water, the news that water from plastic bottles is contaminated with extremely high levels of microplastics might give you pause. With an average of 325 particles of plastic in every liter of bottled water, how ‘safe’ sparkling water is, is definitely a live issue.
