On March 24, a leak at the Trinseo Altuglas chemical facility in Bristol Township, Philadelphia caused up to 120,000 liters of latex emulsion to spill into the Delaware River.
Concerned residents were told to continue to use tap water for the days immediately following the incident. The reason for this is the contaminated river water would take time to reach and enter the water treatment plant, and from there, the taps of local homes and businesses.
Stay Calm & Drink the Water?
Within hours, store shelves were cleared of bottled water. Repeated assurances from officials that the tap water was – for now – safe, failed to quell the panic buying. Years of headlines about water contamination scandals have left people more likely to exercise an abundance of caution in the face of ‘official reassurance.’
The incident in Philadelphia is a reminder that water contamination doesn’t necessarily affect communities insidiously, over a long period of time, as in the case of Flint, Michigan.
Your Water is Contaminated – What Do You Do?
So, what do you do if the worst happens, and you discover that the water flowing from your taps is contaminated? Because honestly? There doesn’t even have to be a headline-grabbing chemical spill for that to be the case.
You have several options.
Bottled Water
First, you could join the long queues for bottled water. It’s expensive, an environmental disaster, might present its own risk to health, and you’ll need way more of it than you can carry home, but it’s an option.
Reverse Osmosis Water
How about a Reverse Osmosis water machine? Sure, it will clean up your water, but it’s a short-term fix only. Your body needs the vital minerals that water contains, and Reverse Osmosis machines strip the water of all minerals, leaving it ‘dead.’ It’s not a long-term solution for a healthy, strong body.
Jug-Filtered Water
Jug/Pitcher filter? They’re cheap and accessible, but frequently jug filters only make water taste and look better. They just don’t have the filtration technology to remove the more serious contaminants. Better than nothing, sure, but lead – for example – cannot be tasted, smelled or seen. In other words, your jug filtered water might well contain lead, but your senses will not be able to alert you to its presence.
None of these options are truly viable, so what is the answer if you want your family to drink clean, safe water?
The answer is a water ionizer.
A Tyent Water Ionizer Transforms Your Water
A Tyent Water Ionizer transforms tap water into clean, safe, delicious alkaline water you can drink with confidence. Tyent water ionizer filters have the same filtration capacity as hospital kidney dialysis machines, for unbeatable peace of mind. For example, our Chromium-6 4 Stage filtration system reduces and removes:
- 99% of Chromium-6
- 90-95% of fluoride
- 99% of lead
- Radium
- Mercury
- Nickel
- Chlorine
- Iron
- Hydrogen Sulfide
- Manganese
- Chloramines
