America’s long love affair with soda is finally over.
Too much sugar. The weird aftertaste and mounting concern over artificial sweeteners used. The rising fears about some of the chemicals used to produce soda’s addicting taste.
We’re not surprised to hear about soda’s much-anticipated decline. However, soda hasn’t quite disappeared from the shelves just yet.
The sales numbers for soda are still alarming – but there’s reason for optimism.
Americans drank 12.3 billion gallons of soda in 2017 – down a significant 1 billion gallons from 2012.
Some people are turning to carbonated water to get their “fizzy fix,” but are these people being ripped off, and can they trust what’s in the bottle or can?
Buying Water Costs How Much?!
The cost of buying water continues to soar.
An eight-pack of 16.9 fl oz. carbonated water can cost around the same price as a similar-sized pack of Coca-Cola or more.
Even if you briefly ignore the huge environmental cost of buying anything that uses disposable plastic, as well as the ongoing question marks that loom over what chemicals are leaking from the plastic itself into the water –
The cost of bottled water compared to tap water is wildly disproportionate!
Is Your Bottled Water Treating You Like a Mug?
And here’s a sobering fact, recently disclosed in a comprehensive new report – an astonishing 64 percent of bottled water is drawn from municipal tap water resources.
No kidding.
Chances are that someone buying bottled water for $1 or more can get the same water from a tap…for next to nothing.
Think about this:
If you buy one bottle of water every day for one year, you’re spending $365.
If both you and your partner grab a bottle of water at lunchtime? $730 a year.
Crazy, right?

[…] Terrifying facts swirl around soft drinks. They are a risk factor for obesity, osteoporosis, and diabetes and can also lead to high blood pressure. A part of the reason is soft drinks use distilled water, which can sap the body of healthy minerals and excrete them. […]
Alright but how does your machine even begin to clean tap water? What kind of water comes out and where does it go?
Hi, Thomas. Thanks for your engaging questions. The Tyent Water Ionizer works like this: the water goes through a specialized electrolysis chamber and hybrid filtration system that removes over 200 contaminants (including lead, beryllium, and chlorine) and fills your water with ions, minerals, and antioxidants. The machine then separates the alkaline water from the acidic water by pulling them apart and creating two streams. Acidic pH water comes out of one side and alkaline comes out of the other side (through tubes).
When you press the button to choose the type of water that you want, the long tube on the top dispenses the water of your choice, and the smaller tube is the runoff. The runoff is the opposite of the water that you choose. Some people save the runoff. For example, if you choose alkaline water to drink, then the runoff would be acidic. Acidic water is good for your skin and hair and to water your plants. I also use it to clean, especially for containers that hold onto soapy or food smells when they come out of the dishwasher. You can always test the pH with the drops that were sent in the box to make sure the pH is right (in a little bag with a small pH chart).
Man, these machines are too expensive. Might as well just get a filtering pitcher. It’s a lot cheaper.
Hi, Fiona. While a filter pitcher might seem like a good and affordable deal, it isn’t the most effective option in the long run since it can’t get rid of the harshest chemicals or contaminants from your water. It’s not going to be able to filter the water as quickly and effectively as our water ionizers do. Also, a filter pitcher won’t fill your water with essential minerals and molecular hydrogen (one of the most powerful antioxidants available), which our water is abundant with.
If you want to drink a healthier type of water while saving money on bottled water, we recommend buying a Tyent water ionizer so that you can turn your home’s tap water into hydrogen-rich alkaline water. Our high-quality ionized water is full of molecular hydrogen, one of the most powerful antioxidants that leave your body hydrated and refreshed. Apart from seasonal sales, we also offer a customizable and budget-friendly financing program for as little as $25 per month.
