What is Yo-Yo Dieting?

Yo-yo dieting over time will result in muscle loss that will not only pack on the pounds but affect your health as well. To avoid muscle loss – exercise and eat quality proteins such as whole eggs, poultry, meat or fish.
The health effects of yo-yo dieting are numerous and serious – leading to frustration and increases in your risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease and Type 2 diabetes.

Instead of implementing quick diets to lose weight or counting calories, focus on a healthy diet at every meal and snack that includes:
- Lean protein – such as eggs, fish (salmon or tuna), and ground turkey
- Healthy carbs – such as quinoa, sweet potatoes, and whole-grain foods
- Healthy fats – such as avocado, nuts, and olive oil

Remember that not all calories are equal!
There is a vast difference in the way the body metabolizes a 100-calorie candy bar vs. 100 calories of broccoli.
