Jumping into our 10-part special now? Why not take a look at the earlier blogs in our great series on how Tyent water ionizers compare to other types of home water machines and products? We give you the facts then it’s up to you to decide for yourself who wins!
Distilled Information
Today, we’re looking at how water ionizers stack up against distillers, kicking off with how distilled water is produced. It’s a process with a long and ancient history; Aristotle, the great philosopher and tutor of Alexander the Great, wrote about the steaming of seawater for the purpose of drinking.
A low to mid-priced option, the modern day distillation process commonly takes place in a type of urn, which boils and evaporates water before collecting the vapors to produce drinking water. All well and good, but what exactly are you drinking?
The Importance of pH
The body’s pH level is important for good health. One of the reasons drinking alkaline water is so beneficial is that it encourages a slightly alkaline state. However, distilled water can be slightly acidic as a result of comprising dissolved carbon dioxide from the air.
The steaming process takes no prisoners and tackles many microorganisms, chemicals, and water-born contaminants. However, the harsh nature of vigorous steaming means that essential minerals are also stripped out.
That’s no lightweight matter. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) takes a dim view.
“Distilled water, being essentially mineral-free, is very aggressive, in that it tends to dissolve substances with which it is in contact. Notably, carbon dioxide from the air is rapidly absorbed, making the water acidic and even more aggressive.”
~ The US Environmental Protection Agency
Drinking mineral deprived water isn’t likely to cause too much harm in the short term, but over time, water that is starved of vital minerals will try to stabilize itself by leaching minerals from your body, potentially leading to a deficiency.
Ionized Hydrogen Water
How about ionized hydrogen water? Well, it’s certainly clean. With astonishing filtration capabilities, Tyent ionizers routinely remove up to 99.9% of lead and over 200 other contaminants.
Right at the other end of the scale in terms of added value, ionized alkaline water is rich with minerals, antioxidants, and hydrogen. Far from scavenging trace minerals from your body, it contributes more of the good stuff that a healthy body needs to thrive.
