- Baking Soda
Because baking soda has a high alkaline content, mixing it with water at a ratio of around 600mg to an 8oz glass of water, increases the alkalinity of the water. It sure does. There’s your alkaline water right there. But there’s other stuff there too. Whatever is in your tap water, first of all, and not all tap water is created (or rather filtered) equally.
There’s also the possibility that your baking soda might contain impurities. And the implications of drinking baking soda on a regular basis; take a look at this check list of medical red-flags, in case you want to go down the baking soda route.
- Baking soda is high in sodium thus making it unsafe in high doses, or used over long period of time
- Edema, liver disease, kidney disease sufferers should avoid drinking baking soda water.
- If you have any issues with your blood pressure, then avoid drinking baking soda water.
- You may experience increased thirst and possibly stomach discomfort.

- Making An Ionizer At Home
Really? Really really? Why, yes. You can make a homemade ionizer using household items like sponges, copper wire, electrodes or platinum coated plates, electrical clips… actually, these aren’t really household items. You’ll probably need a trip to the DIY store. Next, watch your chosen Youtube clip on making an ionizer unit. And then, armed with the knowledge that your experiment comes complete with the risk of fire, leaking chemicals and electrocution, feel free to go ahead and build your own ionizer. Just don’t do it in the basement at home. Or anyone else’s basement for that matter.
- pH drops
Well, they don’t taste great. On the plus side, you’re less likely to cause a fire or electrocute yourself, so they probably win against building that homemade ionizer. But what great benefits they have are a little ambiguous. Arguably, you might end up with very, very expensive mineral water. But when fresh, filtered water from a Tyent Ionizer unit costs just 6 cents a glass, that doesn’t seem such an attractive idea either.
