FATS THAT WON’T MAKE YOU FAT

There are several different types of dietary fats. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats can help reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and lower your risk of heart disease or stroke. You should limit your healthy fat intake to 30 percent of your total daily calories.

Here are some examples of healthy fats that won’t make you fat:

Seeds: Flax seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds are good sources of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and protein. They are packed with minerals such as selenium, zinc and magnesium.

Avocados: Avocados are an excellent source of glutathione. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that helps cleanse and protect the body by fighting free radicals and helping the liver remove toxins from the body. Avocados are also rich in folate and vitamin E.

Nuts: Nuts are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, soluble fiber and vitamin E. They are also a good source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Nuts can help lower bad cholesterol (LDL), decrease the risk of blood clots and improve the health of the lining of your arteries.

Olive oil: Olives are rich in monounsaturated fat and antioxidants and can help decrease blood pressure. Olive oil can also help you maintain a healthy weight. The high monounsaturated fatty acid content of olive oil helps reduce bad cholesterol levels and can also help increase good cholesterol levels (HDL).

Coconut oil: Coconut oil can help improve digestion, nutrient absorption and intestinal health. The fatty acids in coconut oil are medium-chain triglycerides, which are easily metabolized and used as energy by the body. The fatty acids in coconut oil can boost metabolism and energy, promote weight loss and increase good cholesterol (HDL).

Do you like to eat any of these healthy fats? What are some interesting ways you incorporate them into your daily routine? Do you sprinkle some flax seeds on salads or use avocado in your breakfast smoothie? We would love to hear how you use healthy fats!

SIX SECRET USES FOR APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting apple cider. Apple cider vinegar has been used as a home remedy for many years. Recently, it has started to make a comeback in popularity. Even though apple cider vinegar itself is an acidic substance, it is believed to have an alkalizing effect in the body. Here are some different uses for apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar combats workout fatigue by helping to fight lactic acid buildup. Apple cider vinegar also contains potassium and enzymes that can relieve fatigue.

Gargling with apple cider vinegar helps kill germs and bacteria in your mouth due to its antibacterial properties. That’s great news for when you run out of mouthwash, right? However, you should keep in mind the possible risks, which are listed below.

Apple cider vinegar can soothe an upset stomach and indigestion. You can drink a glass of water mixed with 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar before having a big meal to aid in digestion.

Apple cider vinegar can soothe a sore throat. Gargle with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and warm water to help kill the germs in your throat as soon as you feel that tickle coming on.

Apple cider vinegar can aid in weight loss. A Japanese study found that the daily intake of vinegar might be useful in preventing metabolic syndrome by reducing obesity. Add a few fat-free tablespoons to your salad for a tantalizing pop of flavor.

Apple cider vinegar can help regulate the pH of your skin. Dilute 1 part apple cider vinegar with 2 parts water and rub the solution on your face with a cotton ball after cleansing. This can help balance skin tone and banish blemishes.

Possible Risks of Consuming Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is very acidic. The main ingredient of the vinegar is acetic acid, which can damage tooth enamel and the tissues in your throat and mouth. You should always dilute it with water or juice before swallowing it.

Apple cider vinegar can cause low potassium levels and can lower bone density, leading to osteoporosis.

Apple cider vinegar can adversely interact with certain medications. Be sure to check with your doctor before ingesting any supplements.

Do any of these uses of apple cider vinegar sound familiar to you? Acidic and alkaline water from a water ionizer machine has all the same benefits of apple cider vinegar, and it’s readily available straight from the tap. Ionized water tastes much better than apple cider vinegar!

Have you been feeling a bit “backed up” lately? Almost everyone has experienced constipation in their life. Going on the assumption that you already know what constipation is, let’s discuss some of the causes.

Why Are You Constipated?

You don’t drink enough water.

You’re not getting enough fiber in your diet.

You’re not getting enough exercise.

You’re taking a medication that causes constipation.

You drink too much soda, caffeine or alcohol, which all cause dehydration.

You eat too much red meat, dairy or processed food.

How Do You Get Things Moving Again?

There are many ways to help relieve constipation, some of which do not sound too pleasant. These remedies include the following:

Laxatives

Stimulants

Lubricants

Stool softeners

Fiber supplements

Enemas

There are also much easier ways to get constipation relief that only require some simple lifestyle changes. Here are some examples:

Get more exercise. The more you move, the better you keep everything else in your body moving too. Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.

Eat a high-fiber diet. Some high-fiber foods include bran, nuts, beans, grains, broccoli, purines, figs and most fruits and vegetables.

When you gotta go, you gotta go! Don’t delay going to the bathroom! If you feel the urge coming on, don’t hold it in. If you don’t listen to the call of nature, your colon will absorb the water from your stool, making it hard to pass.

Increase your water intake with ionized alkaline water. If you don’t have enough water in your body, the large intestine soaks up the water from your food waste. The result is hard stools that are difficult to eliminate. Drinking ionized water would be the best addition to your daily routine. Tyent Water is restructured into smaller molecules, which makes the water easier for your body’s cells to absorb. Alkaline water helps improve blood circulation, as seen in this video, which increases the blood flow to your intestines. More blood to the gastrointestinal tract results in stronger intestinal contractions and more digestive enzymes.

By implementing a few simple lifestyle changes, you can keep things moving in the right direction. Do you have any stories you would be willing to share with us? We would love to hear them!

Tyent Water Can Help With Constipation!

Here is one success story:

“My daughter, Kiersten, has had severe constipation problems since she was born. Her doctor has her take laxatives daily, and sometimes they don’t even work and she gets really bad pains. She is a really picky eater, so she’s not getting the fiber she needs naturally. The one lifesaver has been Tyent Water. Since she likes the taste and agrees to drink it, she has been having regular bowel movements and has no more stomach pains.”

CAN ALKALINE WATER HELP CURB SUGAR CRAVINGS?

Why do we crave sugar?

Many of us crave sugar to help increase our energy levels, especially during that afternoon slump. Another reason we crave sugar is because it just tastes so good! The problem with getting energy from sugar is that it wears off quickly, often referred to as crashing.

Daily Recommended Sugar Intake

The American Heart Association offers the following recommendations for daily sugar intake:

Men: 9 teaspoons (36 grams)

Women: 6 teaspoons (24 grams)

Children: 3 teaspoons (12 grams)

What should you do when a sugar craving hits?

Chew gum: Chewing gum may help reduce sugar cravings. A large variety of flavors can help curb your craving!

Eat some fruit: You’ll get fiber and nutrients in addition to the sweetness you’re looking for.

Wait it out: Do something to distract yourself, and the craving should go away. Go for a walk or call a friend.

Just give in . . . sometimes: It’s OK to have some sweets once in a while. Just use moderation and try to stick to 150 calories.

Stay hydrated: Drink alkaline water!

Can alkaline water really help curb sugar cravings?

Give your body what it really needs, not what you think it craves. Sometimes you think you’re hungry, but you’re actually thirsty. What could be better than a nice, tall glass of antioxidant-rich ionized alkaline water?

Alkaline water tastes fresh and pure. It also gives you more energy than sugar—and not the jittery kind! Ionized water has an abundance of oxygen, which is great for your cells. Check out the changes to your blood that occur after drinking alkaline water. Now that’s energy!

So the next time you get that yearning for a piece of candy, try drinking a big glass of ionized alkaline water instead. Your craving should go away, and you’ll get a little bit of pep in your step!

Let us know if this works for you, because it sure works for us!

PETS AND ALKALINE WATER

Staying hydrated is an essential part of staying healthy, for both people and their furry friends. But when you give your pets tap water to drink, they ingest harmful chemicals such as chlorine, chloramine, fluoride, heavy metals and even pharmaceuticals. You can find out the quality of your local tap water here. You certainly don’t want to drink that contaminated water, and you shouldn’t give it to your pets either!

Research has shown that animals can reap the same benefits of alkaline water as you. For example, in a study conducted by the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, dairy cows that drank alkaline had increased milk production, healthier skin, higher bone density, stronger legs and fewer illnesses. And since animals have a faster metabolism than people, they experience these benefits even more quickly than you. These benefits include the following:

Smoother, shinier and softer fur

Fresher breath

Increased energy

Stronger bones

Less smelly droppings

Our pets’ diet consists mostly of meat, which increases acidic waste in their body. Alkaline water helps to neutralize this acid imbalance. In addition, the antioxidants in ionized water help neutralize and eliminate toxins and free radicals from your pet’s body, especially since the smaller molecular size of the water makes it easier for their cells to absorb.

RULES ON GIVING YOUR PETS ALKALINE WATER

Start your pets off with the lowest setting for alkaline water and keep them at a pH of around 9.0. You should keep your pets at level 1 as there is no need for pets to go to a higher level than that.

If your pets are on medication, don’t give them ionized alkaline water one hour before or after giving them the medication. The ionized water can interfere with the medication’s absorption rate.

Don’t offer alkaline water with meals. The higher pH of the water neutralizes the stomach acids that are needed to break down food and absorb nutrients. Instead, offer regular, purified water for mealtime.

OTHER USES FOR IONIZED WATER FOR PETS

Use turbo acidic water on cuts, scrapes and bites. The antibacterial properties of this water help prevent infection.

Spray level 1 acidic water on their fur after giving them a bath to keep their coat soft and shiny.

Pets are wonderful additions to our lives, and we treat them as an important part of our families. So of course, we want to do our best to take good care of them. Giving them ionized alkaline water is one way to keep them happy and healthy!

We’ve shared some pictures of our staff’s pets here—and please feel free to post pictures of your pets too! We would love to see them!

CHILDREN AND ALKALINE WATER

You already know the benefits you can receive from ionized alkaline water. However, you may have some questions about giving ionized alkaline water to children. Do you know what level of ionized alkaline water you should give your child? Did you know there are times to avoid giving ionized alkaline water to children? Read on to learn more!

PURIFIED WATER

Mix babies’ formula with purified water only.

Do not give children ionized alkaline water 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after meals. Alkaline water may interfere with the body’s ability to absorb the nutrients in food. This is a good practice for adults to follow as well. Purified water is perfect for mealtime.

Do not allow children to drink alkaline water 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after taking medication. To avoid jeopardizing the effectiveness of medications, children should take them with purified water. Again, the same advice applies to adults.

Now let’s focus on how much water children should drink daily.

BABIES

Babies up to six months of age do not need to drink water because they get enough fluid from breastfeeding or formula. Remember to mix formula with neutral, purified water. From 6 to 12 months, when your baby starts to eat solid foods, you may consider offering your baby two ounces of purified water in a cup. Choose water over juice to begin to form good life habits. If you do give your baby juice, dilute it with some purified water.

TODDLERS

Busy, active toddlers should typically drink about 44 fluid ounces of water per day. At this point, you can give your child water with a pH between 8.5 and 9.0. Introduce alkaline water to your child slowly by only offering one to two cups per day and gradually moving up. If you offer your child juice, dilute it with alkaline water.

SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN

By now, your child should be accustomed to alkaline water. Children this age should drink anywhere from 33 to 66 fluid ounces of water per day, depending on their size, weight and activity level. Give your child a GoodLife bottle to take to school so he or she can sip on water throughout the day. Make sure your child has water at any sporting activities. It is still a good idea to stick with a pH level between 8.5 and 9.0.

TEENAGERS

Kids this age should drink up to 2 to 3 liters of water day. Now that they are older, the pH of the water can be between 9.5 and 9.7. Again, the amount of water needed depends on your teenager’s size and activity level. Make sure your teenager takes water to school and has it for after-school activities as well.

Teaching your children the importance of drinking water—and especially ionized alkaline water—is a big step in steering them in the right direction toward developing a healthy lifestyle that will last well into their adulthood.
